CMSC Covid-19 Information

CMSC Families:

MAY 20:

On Saturday, May 16, NCYSA notified all clubs in North Carolina that the Spring season would be cancelled for all ages and play levels. Neither USYS(United States Youth Soccer) nor NCYSA can imagine guidelines which can provide safe competitive play with current rules, virus levels, and protective equipment. CMSC will not finish the season as originally intended and will move forward to tryouts and Fall season.

NCYSA may give clubs the option of local play/training in small groups starting June 1. At this time we do not know what that may look like and what kind of guidelines there may be. We are waiting for USYS and NCYSA to provide best practices and rules to see if we can provide this programming.

CMSC wants all families to know we are actively looking at accounts for players. Most accounts were ahead of payment versus the number of games played. The board is working on options for refunds or credits towards future programming. Please login to your account at carolinamountainssoccer.org to view your current balance.

Tryouts/Evaluations will be in June for Academy and Classic teams. Dates will be announced soon.

APRIL 1:

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, April 1, 2020, the NCYSA Executive Board has EXTENDED THE SUSPENSION OF ALL NCYSA SANCTIONED EVENTS, THIS INCLUDES BUT NOT LIMITED TO GAMES, TRAINING (PRACTICES) TOURNAMENTS, PERMISSION TO TRAVEL and ALL LEVELS OF PLAY (Classic, Challenge and Recreation) UNTIL APRIL 30, 2020.

We advise everyone to “stay at home” as directed by many cities/counties and the Governor for the safety of our soccer community and ALL.

MARCH 25:

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA) Executive Board has EXTENDED THE SUSPENSION OF ALL NCYSA SANCTIONED EVENTS (i.e., all CMSC programming) until APRIL 12, 2020.  We will follow up with our members prior to this date as the situation is rapidly changing. This action is being taken to protect the health and safety of our players and families as our community, state and nation deals with the Covid-19 crisis.

If you are set up on auto payments for your membership dues, no auto payment will be collected during this time. We will be in contact with our members regarding each account once we know more about the future of our soccer season.

As a reminder, please remember any hotel reservations you have made for upcoming tournaments and change them accordingly.

Please stay healthy and safe!

MARCH 10:

All North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA) sanctioned activities, and thereby all CMSC programming, is suspended effective March 12 until April 1. This action is being taken to protect the health and safety of our players and families as our community, state and nation deals with the Covid-19 crisis. This includes all practices, games and tournaments.

CMSC has also been informed by Haywood County Schools that no one is to be on HCS fields until after April 13. You can read below the official statements from NCYSA and HCS.

Over the next week or two, and as the course and the impact of Covid-19 becomes more clear, we will begin making plans for returning to play and the extension of our seasons. We will share our plans as they evolve. Please remember any hotel reservations you have made for upcoming tournaments and change them accordingly.

We hope by being proactive and staying healthy, we will be able to return to spring soccer soon!

Our decision to suspend play are based on the following statements from North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA) and Haywood County Schools:

NCYSA STATEMENT ON COVID-19 (March 10, 2020)

NCYSA cares about the safety of our players, coaches and families. The NCYSA Executive Board has decided that NCYSA will follow/enforce the policies on COVID-19 set forth by US Soccer and USYS. We want to be sure that our associations have received this information to share with their membership. We advise everyone to use best practices and common sense when it comes to the safety of our soccer community.
