This club was founded in 1980 as Smoky Mountain Youth Soccer Association (SMYSA). SMYSA officially became Smoky Mountain Soccer Club (SMSC) in the fall season of 2003. SMSC has been serving the soccer community of Western North Carolina for over twenty years. In 2007, we changed the name to Carolina Mountains Soccer Club (CMSC) to reflect the growth of the club as it better serves the area in which it was founded. The club is affiliated at the state level with the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association.

CMSC has grown to having a current membership of over 160 youth players aged 5-18, fielding with over 12 teams, including Junior Academy, Pre Academy, Academy,Challenge and Classic levels, playing in the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association.
